AI-Driven Breakthroughs in Dentistry: Neotribe Invests in Pearl's Mission to Elevate the Global Standard of Care for Patients
At Neotribe we are incredibly excited for individuals to experience the depth and breadth of how Artificial Intelligence can make our day-to-day lives better. Many headlines (and investment dollars, including some of ours) go to LLMs and other foundational elements of the AI stack. And rightly so. But it’s an important sign of AI’s evolution that we’re seeing the emergence of hundreds of game-changing vertical AI startups, too.
We support breakthrough technologies that stretch the imagination, and that’s exactly what happens when founders take AI and apply it to solve real-world problems in ways never before possible – particularly in industries that have been largely left behind by the latest technological advances.
Such is the case with longtime friend of Neotribe, Ophir Tanz, and his newest company, Pearl. Pearl is the global leader in dental AI, focused on delivering AI solutions that elevate the global standard of care in dentistry. And Ophir is a repeat founder with world-class company-building skills and deep expertise on the use of AI for computer vision applications.
Our history with Ophir goes back several years. Prior to founding Neotribe, Kittu invested in and sat on the board of Ophir’s previous start-up, GumGum. Through the years, they established a great rapport and appreciation for each other’s instincts, abilities, and passions.
When we heard Ophir’s mission with Pearl to elevate patient care in dentistry through cutting-edge computer vision technology, worldwide regulatory authorizations, and new AI tools to improve patient treatment planning, insurance claim approvals and dental education – it did not take long to determine that we wanted to support the company on their journey.
We were especially eager to see the tangible impact of Second Opinion, Pearl’s flagship product which is built on a computer vision platform that can instantly and reliably identify and measure a comprehensive array of pathologies, restorations, and anatomy in dental x-rays. Through superior technology and approach to computer vision, Second Opinion allows dentists to diagnose more accurately and consistently compared to existing solutions across a variety of prognoses. Additionally, it allows dentists a visual aid to use with patients to help them understand their care path, which increases adherence.
Now, Pearl is announcing a $58M Series B financing that will help them maintain their category leadership and continue to develop the product portfolio. With this financing, Kittu once again joins the board of directors.
We are thrilled to back Ophir and to have the opportunity to get equally as excited about the broader team at Pearl and their accomplishments to date. We know this will be a meaningful journey together and cannot wait to see what the future holds for the Pearl team.
