Neotribe Backs Lineaje’s Mission to Lead the Way in Software Supply Chain Security Management

We’re proud to announce our participation in Lineaje’s Series A. Lineaje's mission is to provide a comprehensive governance platform for Software Supply Chain Security Management, addressing the critical need for securing software across various sources.

Introducing Lineaje

It's often said that the three pillars of a successful startup are team, technology, and market. At Neotribe we firmly believe that team comes first for a reason. We can look at our own portfolio built over the last several years and see the pattern between great, balanced co-founder relationships and successful company outcomes.

The first time we met Lineaje, this team pattern recognition began firing. Javed Hasan and Anand Revashetti joined our first and nearly every subsequent call together – as a united front. This was the first of many indicators that they are a strong, complementary fit. Both have tremendous operating experience, and each specializes in important categories that round out the skills and abilities that a founding team needs to possess. Javed brings a nuanced perspective on the customer as well as business-building acumen, which is paired perfectly with Anand’s technological expertise.

Javed and Anand met and collaborated during their time working at McAfee and the depth of their relationship goes even further. Javed was proud to share that even their families have grown close over the years. Through their extended experience working together, Javed took the time to let us know they’ve learned not only how to disagree with each other but – at least as important – how to come back from a disagreement even stronger than before. While we all know of successful co-founders without this level of connection, we believe it gives them a leg-up in building Lineaje and will continue to benefit them for years to come.

A great co-founding pair, however, does not always make for a great company. Luckily for us, the more we learned about Javed, Anand, and the vision for Lineaje, the more excited we got.

Lineaje’s mission is to provide a comprehensive governance platform for Software Supply Chain Security Management for companies that source, build, buy, or use software – including open-source software. Today nearly every company is a software company, so Lineaje's mission could hardly be more far-reaching and relevant. Their platform allows customers to secure software, regardless of its source, and further enables remediation and recommendations of the most efficient path to resolve issues without breaking other code downstream.

While we have eagerly supported the dev tools market for years, we are seeing a new category of differentiated solutions that are optimized not only for software developers but also for software consumers, publishers, and open-source managers. This expanded focus upon modern software's broader footprint calls for a new approach to managing and updating software. Lineaje is a perfect example of this new trend. While Linejae can serve software developers, the platform is purpose-built to enable users across the software supply chain to seamlessly identify security vulnerabilities and address them quickly and efficiently.

In addition to the impressive backgrounds of both founders, we found ourselves excited about the flexibility of the solution, the emerging importance of the category, as well as the number and quality of the customers Lineaje is already serving today. Through our diligence calls, we found that the depth and experience of the co-founders were not only apparent to us but also to their customers.

We are very proud to announce our participation in Lineaje’s Series A financing out of our growth fund, the Ignite Fund. We are very excited about what the future holds for Javed, Anand, and the entire Lineaje family.
