The Ignite Fund is a natural extension of our existing platform, which includes our first two funds (Neotribe Ventures Fund I and II) that are focused on Seed and Series A companies. With the launch of Ignite, we are able to both back our existing founders through the next phase of their growth journey as well as welcome new companies to the Neotribe family.
What is the Ignite Fund’s objective?
To invest in high growth, Series B or later companies, with breakout potential. More specifically, the Ignite Fund is seeking companies that are capitalizing on truly innovative ideas to create something net new - whether it be a technological approach or a product. The Fund targets companies that still have scaling and execution risk but have solved most technical risks and have evidenced product-market fit.
When was the Ignite Fund launched?
The Ignite Fund closed in December 2021. It will make investments over the next 2 - 3 years.
What size checks does the Ignite Fund write?
The Ignite Fund targets check sizes between $4M and $11M, though there is no specific requirement.
What other funds does Neotribe invest out of?
Neotribe is currently investing out of Neotribe Ventures Fund II as well, which is a 2020 vintage (Neotribe Ventures Fund I was a 2017 vintage that is fully invested inclusive of reserves). Neotribe Ventures Fund II targets companies ranging from pre-seed and Series A.
Does the Ignite Fund lead rounds?
For new companies to the Neotribe family, - yes, the Ignite Fund can price and lead rounds. The Fund can also participate in a syndicate priced by another investor. For companies that Neotribe previously invested in through the Venture Fund, the Ignite Fund will not price rounds but can participate meaningfully including investing on a super pro-rata basis, depending on the situation.
Do you take Board seats?
Yes. Both of our Fund Partners have Board experience and can take either voting seats or Observor seats, depending on the situation; however, a Board seat is not a requirement.
What regions do you focus on?
The Fund mainly targets investments in North America, though we can make investments elsewhere. As a firm, Neotribe has made investments in other regions.
Which sectors do you focus on?
We are sector agnostic and have invested across computational biology, enterprise security, blockchain technologies, clean tech, and more as a firm. While we do not focus on particular sectors, we do focus on technologies that we believe have sustainable advantages (e.g. data moat, technical innovation).
